  2.    L. Ron Hubbard:Battlefield Earth

  4.   Ron  Hubbard  is an interesting case.
  5. First  he  wrote Sci-fi, then founded a
  6. religion  and  then returned to Sci-fi.
  7. He  also  died some time ago. His books
  8. are  well written,  usually bestsellers
  9. and  THICK.  A  1000-page  paperback is 
  10. something  that  must be seen before it 
  11. can  be  believed. In addition to BE he
  12. at  least  started  to write a ten part
  13. Sci-fi    epic  called  Alien  Affairs, 
  14. where   Earth  is  sold  and  everybody 
  15. becomes  a  slave.  That happens in the 
  16. first  part,  that  is. Every volume of 
  17. saga   contains  over  1000  pages,  so 
  18. there is quite a bit reading there.
  19.   Battlefield  Earth  is  located about 
  20. a  thousand  years  into the future. It
  21. tells  about  Johnny Goodboy Tyler, who
  22. starts  as  a member of dwindling human 
  23. race.  Earth was conquered by Psychlos,
  24. a race that governs all the galaxies in
  25. all sixteen universes. Johnny is caught
  26. by  the  security  boss  of  the  Earth 
  27. branch  of  Psychlo mining corporation,
  28. and an intelligent young man that he is
  29. he  learns  how  to  overcome Psychlos.
  30. Therefore   he  overcomes  them,  blows 
  31. their homeplanet to hell with 10 planet
  32. busters  and  overtakes  Psychlo mining 
  33. corporation,  thus changing the face of
  34. interplanetary, intergalactic and inter
  35. universal politics for times to come.
  36.   The  book is quite an adventure. Like
  37. some  pro-critic  said,  it  is  like a 
  38. mixture  of  Rocky I, II, III, IV, Star
  39. Wars -movies,  Raiders  of the Lost Ark
  40. and  some other whopping action pics. I
  41. liked  the  book so much, that I bought 
  42. two  volumes  and have read them twice. 
  43. Language  is fluid, vocabulary suffici-
  44. ently  simple and plot incredibly high-
  45. flying.  An A 1 choice of good literat-
  46. ure.  Also,  offer  valid  in USA only, 
  47. there   is   a   soundtrack  available, 
  48. composed by the author.
